Investor Appetite Picking Up For Reinsurer IPOs


After a long, dry spell, investor appetite in the reinsurance sector might be returning with the successful initial public offering of Montpelier Re, and the move last week by St. Paul to resume its long-awaited IPO of Platinum Underwriters Holdings.

Montpelier Re Holdings announced last week that it closed its initial public offering of 10.9 million shares, raising $201.2 million in net proceeds. The company will have a total market capitalization of over $1.7 billion.
