Q. Are you optimistic that true SEMCI interaction willbecome common within the industry in the next two years?

"Companies need to realize that the ease of doing business isone of the top priorities of all agency owners. The companies thatparticipate in SEMCI would see a huge increase in business comparedto those that continue to fight SEMCI and try to reinvent the wheelon their own."

Nancy Miller of Byron, Mich.-based Blackmore-Rowe, commented: "Illbelieve it when I see it! [There are] too many software vendors andcompanies with their own agendas at this time."

Charlene Partin Tucker, business manager for Bozeman Agency ofTifton Inc., Tifton, Ga., had a different view.

"My understanding is that there is a program out there already. Itscalled Transformation Station and it was developed by Ivans. Im anApplied Systems user at an independent agency, and I have access toit," she notes.

"However, a good many of the insurance companies are not buyinginto it," she continues. "It seems that they would rather [that we]use their proprietary programs, which means that we have to inputand input and input."
