Marsh Offers Maritime Insurance Services Online

NU Online News Service, Dec. 27, 11:30 a.m. EST--Insurance broker Marsh Inc., a subsidiary of New York-based Marsh and McLennan Companies, recently announced the introduction of Marshcargo.com.

The Internet-based system is designed for the firm's marine clients to arrange and administer their insurance programs.

Marsh said its clients would benefit from instant certificate preparation and online printing of certificate originals, as well as comprehensive administrative and risk-management reporting tools. Real-time claims tracking, information sharing, and numerous other capabilities have also been incorporated into the system.

Marshcargo.com is based on Oceanwide's Genoa Cargo Insurance management platform. The Montreal-based service provider concentrates on developing Internet administration programs for the freight transportation and cargo insurance industry.

Marsh said that the Genoa system offers substantial workflow improvements by eliminating redundant data entry and the need to verify premium calculations, and by automating the verification of policy compliance and insuring conditions.

The platform also serves as a powerful collaboration tool by affording real-time processing and information access for all users, Marsh noted.

"Genoa's open Web-based architecture makes it easy for all users to access using only an Internet browser, and allows it to seamlessly integrate with all types of legacy systems as well as emerging Internet technologies," said Mitchell Wasserman, president of Oceanwide.
