Does AIG Need To Reveal A CEO Succession Plan?

Speculation about the health and future of Maurice Greenberg was inevitable after the powerhouse chairman and chief executive officer of AIG last month missed a conference call with analysts and skipped his scheduled keynote address before the Bermuda Insurance Symposium.

The word was that Mr. Greenberg had to bow out of the conference call because of the flu, while the reason behind the Bermuda cancellation was murky. In any case, there was a short-term drop in AIG stock, no doubt fueled in part by concern over Mr. Greenberg’s well being.
