GAO Report Key To Federal Terrorism Re Bill

Supporters of legislation creating a federal reinsurance backstop for losses caused by acts of terrorism are awaiting a key hearing tentatively scheduled for Feb. 27, which could make or break the effort.

The House Financial Services Committee will conduct the hearing, at which the U.S. General Accounting Office is expected to reveal the results of its own study on the impact of the Sept. 11 tragedy on the availability and affordability of terrorism coverage.
