New Search Tool For ISO Members

NU Online News Service, Feb. 14, 1:31 p.m. EST? Insurance Services Office Inc. in Jersey City, N.J., said it is licensing a new tool for data searches that will help its insurance company members fight fraud and check claimants' backgrounds.

ISO said it has signed with the information products company Seisint, Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla., to provide carrier claims and special investigation units and subrogation personnel access to a wide range of public records and publicly-available data for searches on individuals and businesses during claims investigations.

Under the agreement, insurers choosing this optional ISO service can use Seisint's Accurint family of data products to locate information on individuals and businesses for insurance-claims investigations. They can also retrieve public-record documents and other publicly available information, the firms said.

Accurint, said ISO, provides access to the world's largest set of accessible location information, with the ability to search billions of records in fractions of seconds.

According to the company Accurint's proprietary technology allows users to quickly perform high-speed, targeted searches countrywide and retrieve information going back 30 years on names and aliases, addresses, social security numbers, telephone numbers, dates of birth, names and addresses of relatives and neighbors, property ownership and sales records.

ISO said it will integrate and deliver Accurint information seamlessly through ISO ClaimSearch, the property-casualty industry's all-claims antifraud system, via its secure Internet platform.

Accurint's high-volume data search and retrieval capability is the latest offering for claims investigators that ISO has integrated into the ISO ClaimSearch public-records service, the company said.

ISO explained that Accurint complements public-information records available to ISO ClaimSearch users from the FastData service of First Data Solutions, which currently provides a wide range of public-records searches through the ISO system.

Richard P. Boehning, ISO's senior vice president, noted that, "In a recent survey, our customers told us they want access to a broader public records offering with comprehensive nationwide searching and reports. The new option makes ISO ClaimSearch a more powerful and comprehensive resource for insurers, with a technological capability unmatched by any other claims-management system in the market."

The new option also brings customers greater flexibility in public-record searches as they can choose either data provider, Mr. Boehning said.

ISO provides statistical, actuarial, underwriting and claims information and analyses; consulting and technical services; policy language; information about specific locations; fraud-identification tools, and data processing to insurers, reinsurers, agents, brokers, self-insureds, risk managers, and insurance regulators and other government agencies.

Seisint, Inc. said it provides organizations with real-time access to accurate and comprehensive information to improve front-line business decisions. Seisint's Accurint family of products incorporates billions of data records and Seisint's sophisticated data linking algorithms to support risk management, fraud detection, collections and other business functions.
