Power Outage Can Leave RMs In The Dark

Just because you live in the Midwest or on the East Coast doesnt mean your city, county or organization is immune from the types of power outages afflicting the West Coast. Risk managers in California offer a word to the wise: prepare.

Some public entities in California say their major preparations were already in place because of Y2K concerns. “My guess is most jurisdictions already did a lot of work,” said Kevin Carruth, director of the General Services Agency in Santa Clara, Calif. “Any planning we needed to do for computers we did for Y2K, if we didnt already have it in place.”
