Deadline Looms For Agents On Privacy

Newark, N.J.

With the need to come into compliance with federal privacy notification rules less than two weeks away, independent agents in New Jersey have at least one thing going for them– if they have complied with state privacy regulations they are ahead of the game.

Helping agents to understand the issue, the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey hosted a one-day seminar on the subject and discovered that the states insurance regulations governing privacy exceed those set down in the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, and are reportedly among the toughest in the nation.
