Brokers Back Criminal Background Checks

As states continue to grapple with the issue of reciprocity, one broker association is calling on regulators to consider making criminal background checks a part of their reform of the producer licensing process.

The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, during a recent meeting of its board of directors in Colorado Springs, Colo., unanimously adopted a policy position statement in support of a criminal background check for all producers. The statement also calls for the collection of fingerprints.
