The Oklahoma Insurance Department published a bulletin announcing the passage of House Bill 4143, which amends 47 O.S. § 10-108(A).

The bill applies to motor vehicle collisions occurring on non-private property that result in bodily injury, death, or damage to a vehicle or other property. The operator of a motor vehicle involved in such a collision must file a written report with the Department of Public Safety if the damage amount is between $300 and $3,000, and if no settlement has been made within six months of the accident.

If there has been a settlement, a report must be made by the parties. There is no report required if the parties involved in the accident agree to exchange information and there has been no injury, death, or damage to property other than the vehicles.

HB 4143 is effective November 1, 2026. The bulletin can be found here.
