Many users are not aware that when we moved to the new platform we added an advanced search feature to FC&S, so that you can quickly and easily find exactly what you're looking for.
Let's walk through where it is and how to use it. First, enter a search term, for example water backup. Click on the search button. That comes back with ninety-six results. You can do two things from here. First, scroll down on the left hand side and notice that you can sort by date range, or that you can Filter This Search by line of business or Content Type. You can do both at the same time; the numbers in parentheses indicate how many of that type of article are in FC&S.
You can also click on Advanced Search, and further refine your search. You are really only interested in water backup articles that are related to sump pumps, so you click on Advanced Search. From here you can add additional information to further refine your search. You can enter an exact phrase, with at least one of these words, or with none of these words. It allows you to tailor the search to exactly what you are looking for.
In the section With This Exact Phrase, you enter the terms sump pump. Then click the blue box under that section that says Search Again. If you look at the upper left, you'll see that the results have been refined further and now there are only thirty-one results dealing with water backup and sump pumps.
But you're really only interested in questions and answers that deal with water backup and sump pumps. Scroll down and on the left-hand side you'll see where you can filter by date range, line of business, or content type. Because you're only interested in questions and answers, you click that and see that there are six questions and answers dealing with water backup and sump pumps, click on that and you will see that there are six questions and answers. As soon as you click on Questions and Answers, the page filters will show you only those six questions related to water backup and sump pumps.
But we're not done. There's another feature beyond this; say you are really interested in this topic and want to be notified every time we post something new on it. At the top of the page on the right across from where it shows the total results is a box titled Follow. Click on that; it will bring up a menu that allows you to create a daily or weekly alert that will notify you every time we post a new article on this topic.
Eventually you may want to change or turn off that alert function. At the very top of the page above the search bar, you will see a section called My Account. Click on that, and in the middle of the page it brings up a navigation bar with Account, Newsletters, Email Marketing, My Alerts and FAQ. Click on My Alerts. This will bring up all the Alerts you have set up, and it will allow you to change them or delete them if you desire. Once you are done here, then scroll up to the top and in the right-hand corner there is a spot to click to Back to Site, which takes you back to the FC&S Home Page or just Sign Out.
