There are two sources of electrical power. The 120-volt generator and the shore power breaker. There is a transfer switch that will essentially shut one off when the other is activated. The transfer switch was disconnected (by the prior owner) so when the insured attempted to plug in the generator the shore power was still activated causing a power surge. Currently the only known damage is the air conditioning unit throughout the entire bus is non-functional. In dealing with electrical claims in the past I suspect there will be more electrical damage, but the AC is the only diagnosed issue at this time.
We feel this is excluded under the electrical breakdown of the CAP (attached) Section III – Physical Damage Coverage – Part B. Exclusions – 3.a.

We agree that this would be excluded under mechanical or electrical breakdown. Those are broad exclusions with no language providing any exceptions for extenuating circumstances such as the prior owner doing something that later damages the property. We see no coverage in this situation.
