Does the HO2 broad form provide coverage for interior water damage under the Weight of Ice and Snow peril without the need for a storm created opening?

Please see number 11 under Section I Perils Insured Against, Weight of Ice, Snow or Sleet -- "This peril means weight of ice, snow or sleet which causes damage to a building or property contained in a building."

Number 2 (Windstorm or Hail) has the "This peril does not include loss to the inside of a building or the property contained in a building caused by rain, snow, sleet, sand or dust unless the direct force of wind or hail damages the building causing an opening in a roof or wall and the rain, snow, sleet, sand or dust enters through this opening." Number 11 (Weight of Ice, Snow or Sleet) does not have this language.

The two perils are different - the wind/hail peril is for loss to watercraft and trailers and their furnishings inside a building. It also does not include loss caused by rain inside a building unless the wind has created an opening. This is because the peril is actually the wind/hail - if the wind/hail creates an opening and rain/snow/sleet gets in, that is all related and would be covered.

The peril for weight of ice, snow or sleet is for the weight of such that damages a property or damage contained in a building. So, if there is storm that drops 2 feet of snow on a building, and that snow damages the roof such that snow gets in and as such melts and water damages the interior, that would be covered. It is really going to depend on the details of your loss as to what actually happened and whether or not coverage would apply.
