The California Department of Insurance published a press release announcing that the Administrative Hearing Bureau and Intervenor Fairness and Accountability regulation is now in effect in the state.

The regulation improves transparency and accountability and strengthens consumer protections. The regulation increases public access to information and ensures stronger oversight of the costs consumers pay. Clearer standards for intervenor participation, documentation, and compensation requests are established by the regulation.

Any future rate applications and requests for compensation will be reviewed under the Department's enhanced transparency, accountability, and qualification standards. Letters have been issued to all certified intervenors informing them that they may be required to answer additional questions and provide supplemental documentation in compliance with the new regulation.

The press release can be found here.
