The Maryland Insurance Administration has adopted a regulation on producer license application procedures.
The regulation was published in the Maryland Register on June 12, 2026, and is effective immediately. An applicant must pass any required exam given by the insurance commissioner before the submission of a license application. The results of an exam are only valid for one year after the exam is passed. An applicant submitting an exam score that is older than one year may be rejected.
The commissioner may request additional documentation from any applicant. The applicant must respond within the time frame specified by the commissioner. If the applicant does not respond within the time frame, the application may be denied. If no time frame is specified, the default is six months within the commissioner's request.
The regulation can be found here.
