The South Carolina Department of Insurance published a bulletin providing information on producer appointment renewals.

All insurance producers in the state must file a renewal appointment with the Department every two years. Producer appointment renewals will be processed this year from September 1 through September 30, 2026.

Insurers are required to investigate the character and record of their producers before deciding whether they will renew and certify them. Insurers can review their appointed producers on the SBS website.

All appointment renewals must be made via NIPR for the 2026 renewal period, which opens September 1, 2026. Payments must be made electronically. Late renewals will carry a $250 penalty per appointment.
