The Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance published a bulletin announcing they are rescinding the bulletins that place a moratorium on nonrenewals and cancellations of residential property policies that were damaged by storms in 2025.

The moratorium applied to any residential property within the state that suffered a storm or weather loss after March 1, 2025. The state of emergency declared by the governor that allowed for the moratorium expired on May 31, 2026.As a result, the moratorium on cancellations and nonrenewals ends on June 1, 2026.

However, the Department asks that insurers give grace to property owners who are making a good-faith effort to repair their property and who may face delays outside of their control. Insurers who make exceptions to their underwriting standards to assist policyholders will be protected under a regulatory safe harbor.
