In form CA 00 0111 20, where it relates to symbol 7 automatic coverage for newly added vehicles, there is a requirement that the carrier insures all vehicles the insured owns in order to trigger automatic coverage for newly added vehicles as long as the insured requests coverage within 30 days. Does this apply even if the insured has vehicles owned and located in another state in which the carrier does not write insurance (thus cannot insure those out of state vehicles)?

The automatic coverage provision under symbol 7 applies to vehicles the insured owns, subject to the newly acquired vehicle being a replacement of the same type for which the insured already has coverage. The vehicle types and garage location are shown in Item Three of the declarations. If the vehicles not insured are in a state for which the insurer does not do business, then those vehicles would not be shown in Item Three of the declarations and they would not be covered by symbol 7. As such, any newly acquired vehicle of a type that is not a replacement of a vehicle for which premium was obtained and shown in Item Three of the declarations would not be eligible for the automatic replacement coverage. For example, if the insured is replacing a dump truck and there are no dump trucks shown in Item Three of the declarations, then there would be no coverage for the newly acquired dump truck, even if the insured owns dump trucks in another state.
