The North Carolina Department of Insurance published a press release announcing that the dwelling rate hearing will be rescheduled to July 6, 2026. The hearing was initially scheduled for May 4, 2026.

The Rate Bureau filed a proposed one-year average increase of 28.5% for dwelling insurance with the Department on October 30, 2025, and a proposed two-year average increase of 30.9%.

The Department aims to reach a settlement with the Rate Bureau, but if no settlement is made, the hearing will be held on July 6, 2026. The Rate Bureau previously filed a proposed increaseof 50.6% in July 2023, but the parties reached a settlement of 8%.
