The Texas Department of Insurance published a bulletin warning of phishing email attempts targeting National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) clients, licensing applicants, and administrators.

The emails typically claim that the client has a past due invoice and appear to come from an official domain such [email protected], @naic.org, or@stripe. NIPR warns that if you receive a suspicious email, do not open any attachments or any links, and do not submit payments.

Other ways to identify a phishing email include closely checking the sender's email address; examining the tone of the email, as phishing emails typically try to portray a sense of urgency; and hovering over links to reveal real URLs. If unsure about the authenticity of an email received from NIRP, producers can contact NIRP directly at [email protected].
