The Maryland Insurance Administration published a warning to insurers and other regulated entities of a recent phishing email attempt in another state. In the phishing attempt, scammers pretended to be employees from the state's insurance department and asked insurers to open and share files and make payments.

The Administration warns insurers to look for signs of phishing and warns them to closely check email addresses. Emails from the Administration will only come [email protected] or @public.govdelivery.com.

If an email is received asking for immediate payment, to open attachments, or enter credentials, and you are unsure of the legitimacy, reach out directly to the Administration.
