The Wyoming Department of Insurance published a bulletin announcing that all exemptions provided due to non-competitive insurance markets have been rescinded.

In the 1980s, the insurance commissioner determined that there were certain areas of the insurance market in the state that were not competitive as a result of too few insurers willing to insure certain risks. Because of this, the commissioner signed orders that allowed exemptions from certain requirements of the insurance code for those lines.

The orders included allowing the use of surplus lines without compliance with certain parts of the insurance code and allowing certain policies to be used without being filed for approval.

The Department states that the insurance market has improved drastically since the 1980s, and there are no longer any non-competitive insurance markets in the state. As a result, the orders that allowed exemptions from compliance with the insurance code have been vacated.
