The Colorado Division of Insurance published a news release providing information to consumers who have been impacted by contaminated gasoline at many gas stations in the Denver metro area.

On January 7 and January 8, 2026, many gas stations in the Denver metro area received unleaded gasoline contaminated with diesel fuel. The Division advises that affected consumers with comprehensive coverage should have their damages covered by their insurer. Consumers who notice damage should report it to their insurer and avoid driving the vehicle.

Insurers should also provide the cost of a rental car for those insureds with rental car coverage. Anyone having trouble with their claim should contact the Division for assistance.
