The Louisiana Department of Insurance published a news release announcing another round of the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program (LFHP). Registrations for the next round will open at 8 AM on Wednesday, November 12, and will close at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 19.
Commissioner Tim Temple announced that the program produced a total of 10,000 FORTIFIED roofs in the state. The next round will award 1,000 more grants to eligible applicants.
Eligible homeowners must create a profile on the LFHP website and register during the signup period. Grants will be awarded through a lottery system, so applying on the first day or the last day of registration will yield the same chance of being selected.
This round is limited to residents living in Louisiana’s Coastal Zone, Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Westlake. Homeowners can check if they reside in the Coastal Zone by entering their address on the Coastal Zone Map.
