Fraud of the Week - Preexisting Damage to Vehicle
Auto Fraud - North Carolina
Amount - $1441. 62
A man was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses. Both charges are felonies. He told the insurance company that the damage to his roof and GPS antenna occurred five days after he acquired the collision coverage for his vehicle. In reality, he had the vehicle serviced for those same issues before he obtained the insurance.
