A woman has been convicted of one count felony insurance fraud and sentenced to a total of 7.5 years in prison. The sentence is 1.5 years fixed and 6 years indeterminate. The woman was ordered to pay $7260 in restitution to the insurer. The woman applied for insurance coverage in July of 2019 and in January of 2021, and deliberately concealed a prior conviction for felony insurance fraud. That prior conviction made her ineligible for coverage, but based on the fraudulent applications policies were issued. The woman then filed 47 claims under those policies and collected $7260 in benefits that she was not entitled to.
