The Delaware Department of Insurance published a bulletin informing the industry of a survey to be completed by insurers, surplus lines licenses, and captive managers that issue liability insurance policies in the state.
The Department has heard from organizations providing child and foster care that it has been increasingly difficult to acquire liability insurance and is looking to gather information on liability coverages to better address the issue. These organizations have dealt with policies being cancelled and nonrenewed, large rate increases, and carriers not writing new business.
Many of the organizations are required to carry liability and other coverages, so the lack of accessibility of coverage could limit the availability of childcare and foster care services in the state, a service that is necessary for many residents.
The Liability Carriers Survey must be completed by September 18, 2025, and submitted electronically to [email protected].
The bulletin, with the survey attached, can be found here.
