The Texas Department of Insurance published a bulletin announcing an increase in the rates charged by the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association (TAIPA) for private passengers and commercial auto insurance.
TAIPA is the Texas residual market for automobile insurance. They provide insurance for applicants who have been denied by at least two Texas-authorized insurers.
The overall rate increase is 3.9% for private passenger autos and 1.7% for commercial autos. The table below shows the increase in the base rate by coverage:

The commissioner's office reviewed data presented by TAIPA and approved the proposed changes. The new rates are effective November 1, 2025.
