FP 05 22 Cab Glass Breakage Analysis

Several new farm property forms have been released, with an effective date of June 2025. The FP 05 22 Cab Glass Breakage is not a new form, but it has been updated to specifically state that no deductible applies and to make some editorial changes for consistency with other ISO forms. The FP 05 22 Cab Glass Coverage can be attached to the Causes of Loss Form - Farm Property FP 10 60, the Farm Property - Farm Personal Property Coverage Form FP 00 13, the Farm Property - Other Farm Provisions Form - Additional Coverages, Conditions, Definitions FP 00 90, and the Mobile Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Coverage Form FP 00 30.

A. Coverage

We provide coverage with respect to the item(s) described in the Schedule as follows:

1. Breakage of glass constituting a part of the cab of the scheduled mobile agricultural machinery or farm vehicle(s); and

2. On expenses you incur in making temporary installations to protect the mobile agricultural machinery or farm vehicle(s) described in the Schedule from further damage resulting from the cab glass being broken.

Analysis

The form begins with a schedule that requires an item number, description of mobile agricultural machinery or farm vehicle, year, make and model, and serial or other identification number. The vehicle must be scheduled in order for coverage to be available for breakage of glass that is part of the cab of the vehicle. If the cab glass is broken, coverage is also available for expenses incurred in making temporary repairs in order to protect the machinery or farm vehicle from further damage.

Analysis

There are other conditions that apply to specific forms that the endorsement can be attached to. In the Mobile Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Coverage Form FP 00 30, the only exclusions that apply from B. Exclusions are governmental action, intentional loss, neglect, nuclear hazard, and war and military action. The exclusions are modified because the endorsement only applies to breakage of glass in the cab; therefore, only certain exclusions need to apply. Under E. Farm Inland Marine Conditions - Loss Conditions of the same form, the conditions that apply to this endorsement are duties in event of a loss, other insurance and service agreement, and transfer of rights of recovery against others to us. Under E. Farm Inland Marine Conditions - General Conditions, the applicable conditions are concealment, misrepresentation or fraud, legal action against us, liberalization, and policy period and coverage territory.

Similar changes to the conditions are made for the Farm Property - Other Farm Provisions Form - Additional Coverages, Conditions and Definitions. Under B. Farm Property Conditions - Loss Conditions, duties in event of a loss, legal action against us, other insurance and service agreement, and transfer of rights of recovery against others to us are the only conditions that apply to this endorsement. Under B. Farm Property Conditions - General Conditions, the applicable conditions are concealment, misrepresentation, or fraud and liberalization.

In the Cause of Loss Form - Farm Property, under E. Exclusions only governmental action, intentional loss, neglect, nuclear hazard, and war and military action are applicable to this endorsement.

The valuation loss condition in the Mobile Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Coverage Form and the Farm Property - Farm Personal Property Coverage Form is replaced. In the event of breakage of glass that is part of the cab of a scheduled vehicle in this endorsement, payment is for the lesser of actual cash value at the time of loss, but no more than the amount necessary to repair or replace the glass, or the amount it would cost to repair or replace the broken glass with the closest equivalent cab glass obtainable. If the vehicle is older, the exact same glass may no longer be available for replacement. In which case, the available glass that is the closest equivalent to the older glass will be used. There is no deductible that applies to this coverage.
