The Department of Insurance is collecting policy and claims information from insurers writing homeowners and dwelling fire policies in Idaho. The department is reviewing this information specifically regarding wildfires to enhance the department’s understanding of the affordability, availability, insurance exposures, and market dynamics of the industry. ISO has been designated as the agent for collecting and processing the data.

The data call applies to insurers who meet either of the following criteria in 2022:

  • Insurers that wrote over $200 million in premium nationwide and have policies in Idaho or
  • Insurers that wrote over $1.5 million in premium within Idaho

Insurers are required to submit the information in the DOI’s 2025 Idaho Property Insurance Market Data Call Reporting Template. The required data is from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 204. Claims should be those reported as of March 31, 2025.

The reporting procedure is as follows:

  1. Insurers must register with ISO to obtain Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) credentials and submission instructions if they do not already have an established SFTP process with ISO for catastrophe or other reporting.
  2. Data must be submitted electronically via SFTP directly to ISO.
  3. The 2025 Idaho Property Insurance Market Data Call Reporting Template must be used to report data. The template is available from the DOI or ISO.
  4. Data must be submitted at the individual NAIC code level. Aggregate submissions are not acceptable.
  5. Insurers subject to the data call with no data responsive to the request must still submit the reporting template indicating zero activity via the ISO SFSTP process by the deadline.

Any technical questions should be submitted to ISO at [email protected]. Failure to comply with the data call may result in administrative action. A copy of the bulletin may be found here.
