Several new farm property forms have been released, with an effective date of June 2025. The first of these forms is the Advisory Livestock Coverage With Broadened Livestock Definition Form Declarations FP DS 33 06 25. This declaration works in conjunction with FP 04 39 Broadened Livestock Definition which broadens the definition of livestock significantly. Because the forms work together, we will discuss them together.
The Broadened Livestock Definition FP 04 39 can be added to the Farm Property - Other Farm Provisions Form - Additional Coverages, Conditions, Definitions FP 00 90 and the Livestock Coverage Form FP 00 40.
The FP 04 39 begins with a schedule of classes of animals to be considered livestock. Animals that are not currently in the existing definition or broadened definition of livestock may be added.
DEFINITIONS
Under Paragraph C. Definitions of the Farm Property – Other Farm Provisions Form – Additional Coverages, Conditions, Definitions, Paragraph 8. is replaced by the following:
8. "Livestock" means:
a. Cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules, donkeys, alpacas, vicuñas, llamas, bison, buffalo, camels, deer, elk and moose; or
b. The class of animal(s) shown in the Schedule.
Under Paragraph F. Definitions of the Livestock Coverage Form, Paragraph 3. is replaced by the following:
3. "Livestock" means:
a. Cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules, donkeys, alpacas, vicuñas, llamas, bison, buffalo, camels, deer, elk and moose; or
b. The class of animal(s) shown in the Schedule.
Analysis
The form then provides a revised definition of “livestock”. This definition includes a number of animals beyond those originally in the definition in the FP 00 90, which were cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules and donkeys. The new revised definition includes alpacas, vicunas, llamas, bison, buffalo, camels, deer, elk, and moose, or the animals listed in the schedule.
The form provides the same change to the definition of “livestock” in the FP 00 40. Again, the original definition that includes cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules and donkeys is replaced with a definition that includes those animals, as well as alpacas, vicunas, llamas, bison, buffalo, camels, deer, elk, and moose, or the animals listed in the schedule.
Advisory Livestock Coverage with Broadened Livestock Definition Form Declarations FP DS 33
The Advisory Livestock Coverage with Broadened Livestock Definition Form Declaration FP DS 33 provides a schedule that allows an insured to list a variety of animals. Limits can be per animal or per class on a blanket basis or on a scheduled basis. The location of the livestock can be scheduled as well as any special provisions. Despite the title, the form does not actually provide a definition of livestock; it is just a list of the animals in the definition provided by the FP 00 40.
