The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) published a bulletin announcing revisions to the Michigan Selection of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Medical Coverage Form.
The form has been revised to provide more information to consumers. The new form gives a more detailed description of PIP coverage on the cover page. Changes have been made to Section A and Section D to make them clearer.
The form also adds definitions for “allowable expenses”, “family-provided attendant care,” and “unlimited PIP medical coverage.” The definition of “PIP medical” has been removed since it is addressed on the new cover page.
These changes are for the individual Michigan Selection of PIP Medical Coverage Form, but the commercial form has similar changes. Auto insurers may use these forms or their own, but they must file any new or revised form with DIFS. Forms must be filed no less than 30 days before their effective date, and no later than June 1, 2025.
The bulletin can be found here.
