The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services published a bulletin informing insurers of the maximum copying charge allowed for providing documents to an insured under Michigan Insurance Code.

An applicant or an insured has the right to request a private conference with an insurer if they believe they have been wrongfully denied auto or home insurance or have been charged an unfair premium. The insurer must provide documentation that explains the denial of coverage or explain the premium charged, subject to a reasonable copying charge that is set by the Department.

The current maximum allowable copying charge remains the same at 10 cents per sheet of paper and is effective until December 31, 2025.

The bulletin can be found here.
