A man has been arrested and charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses; both charges are felony offenses. The man made a claim for damages to his vehicle from an auto accident, and he received payment of $14,377. However, he reported the accident as happening a few days later than it actually occurred. When the accident occurred the man did not have the vehicle insured; he obtained a policy and reported the accident as having happened after the policy was in force.
