Policy CP 10 10/12 Special Causes of Loss CP 10 30 10/12

Facts of Loss: Vehicle runs into outdoor sign. Sign is a stand alone fixture, affixed to the land surrounded by a concrete pad. Does coverage extend to the fixture or is it excluded because signs not attached to a building are excluded under property not covered and under the outdoor property extension, it would only be covered for the named perils and vehicles are not one of them.

Would endorsement Outdoor Signs (CP 14 40) have changed coverage?

Is there a revised commercial property policy that extends open perils coverage to all signs, so the CP 14 40 form is no longer used to change the covered perils but to increase the limit?

The 2007 edition of the building and personal property coverage form CP 00 10 removed the requirement that signs must be attached to buildings to be covered. As such, coverage for detached outdoor signs is subject to the causes of loss form that applies to the policy. However, there is a special provision in the limits of insurance section limiting that coverage to $2,500 per sign in any one occurrence. This limit may be increased as per the amount scheduled for that sign in endorsement CP 14 40.
