The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore was struck by a container ship on March 26, 2024 and collapsed into the Patapsco River. The bridge was a major thoroughfare and part of the Baltimore Beltway, and the port of Baltimore is one of the largest in the country and the port closest to the Midwest. The loss is significant, and recovery will be time-consuming and expensive, with many parties involved.
Our article Baltimore Bridge Collapse – A Look at Coverage Implications caught the eye of the CPCU Society and we were invited to participate in a webinar discussing implications of this historic event.
Editors Christine Barlow and Karen Sorrell along with Steven Weiss Chief Underwriting Officer at Incarnation LLC and the CPCU Society presented a webinar explaining the event and the insurance concerns and implications of the closure of the port and the loss of the bridge on May 7th. A recording of the webinar can be found on the CPCU Society Website and is free for all. If you're not a member of the Society, just make a user account to access the recording.
