An insured has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of insurance fraud. The man had two separate claims involving fraud – in 2018 he claimed damage from a tornado in the area, and provided false work invoices for claim funds. In 2020, he again provided his insurer with false work invoices for repairs for damage to rental homes when he had not actually paid for any repairs. He was paid over $180,000 for the fraudulent claims. He has been ordered to pay $125,003.68 in restitution and a $50,000 fine. Following his prison term he will be required to serve a three-year term of federal supervised release.
