Endorsements Used With Personal Auto Policy

Summary: ISO has printed many countrywide endorsements that can be used to modify the personal auto policy (PAP). Endorsements are meant to modify a standard coverage form to the extent that meets the requirements and wishes of both the insured and the insurer. Endorsements can expand the coverage offered by the standard form or delete some coverage; they can change the meaning of words and phrases that appear on the standard form; and they can offer coverages that supplement the basic coverages that appear on the standard form.

This article reviews some of the endorsements that are used to modify the personal auto policy (2018 edition). Some of the endorsements are described briefly while others are detailed with more information. Several endorsements (extended non-owned coverage, for example) are discussed more fully as separate articles following this introductory material.

PP 02 01 09 18 Suspension of Insurance

An insured might use the suspension of insurance endorsement when, for example, he or she is too ill to drive for some time, when serving overseas in the military, or when a vehicle will not be driven for an extended period of time. Coverage must be suspended for at least thirty days in order to receive a refund.

ISO rules state that coverage cannot be suspended for the minimum required insurance coverages for a motor vehicle registered in the state, nor for a risk for which a financial responsibility filing is in effect. If a vehicle carries physical damage coverage, only collision may be suspended.

PP 02 02 09 18 Reinstatement of Insurance is used to reinstate coverage. It cannot be used to extend the policy beyond its original expiration date. This endorsement simply states that the coverages that were suspended are reinstated as of the effective date of the endorsement.

PP 03 01 09 18 Federal Employees Using Autos in Government Business

A common situation is that a person employed by the federal government—a rural mail carrier, for example—will use his or her own vehicle in the course of employment. The personal auto policy states that an "insured" includes any "person or organization … with respect to legal responsibility for acts or omissions of a person for whom coverage is afforded under this Part" [A]. Attaching this endorsement eliminates coverage for the federal government; the federal government self-insures. Likewise, any other person driving the covered auto on government business has no liability coverage, but only if Section 2679 of Title 28, the U.S. Code as amended, requires the Attorney General to provide a defense.

PP 03 02 09 18 Optional Limits Transportation Expenses Coverage

The transportation expenses coverage provided under part D of the personal auto policy is for $30 per day, to a maximum of $900, for temporary transportation expenses incurred by the named insured in the event of a loss covered under coverage D to a covered auto. This endorsement increases those amounts to either $40 per day with a maximum of $1,200; $50 per day with a $1,500 maximum; or $75 per pay with a $2,250 maximum.

The revised transportation limits are scheduled on the endorsement by vehicle. A description of the vehicle is required along with limits of coverage, and the amount of additional premium required.

PP 03 03 09 18 Towing and Labor Costs Coverage

The insurer agrees through the use of PP 03 03 to pay for towing and labor costs incurred each time the covered auto or any nonowned auto is disabled. The disablement can be for any reason and the amount paid under PP 03 03 is the amount scheduled on the endorsement. The insurer declares that it will only pay for labor performed at the place of disablement; repair work at the garage after the car has been towed there is not covered by PP 03 03.

Available limits are per disablement as follows: $25, 50, 75 or 100. Additional limits are available for motor homes are also available per disablement for $150, 200, or 250. Again, the form requires that a description of the vehicle be listed on the endorsement with the scheduled limit and additional premium.

PP 03 05 09 18 Loss Payable Clause

This endorsement states that loss or damage shall be paid under the personal auto policy as interests may appear to the named insured and the loss payee shown in the declarations. The insurance with respect to the interest of the loss payee shall not become invalid because of the fraudulent acts or omissions of the named insured, unless the loss results from the named insured's conversion, secretion, or embezzlement of the covered auto. The insurer also promises to give any advance notice of cancellation to the loss payee as it gives to the named insured.

PP 03 06 09 18 Extended Non-owned Coverage – Vehicles Furnished or Available for Regular Use

This endorsement was retitled with the 2005 edition of the personal auto policy. Previously, it was simply the "extended non-owned coverage for named individual." The addition of "vehicles furnished or available for regular use" distinguishes it from endorsement PP 13 05 that can be used to cover the liability exposure of a vehicle used as a livery conveyance.

The endorsement requires the insured to schedule the name of the person the coverage applies to. It then lists premiums for the selected coverages.

For more information, see Extended Non-owned Coverage.

PP 03 07 09 18 Trailer/Camper Body Coverage (Maximum Limit of Liability)

Exclusion 7, under part D of the personal auto policy, is deleted through the use of this endorsement. PP 03 07 provides coverage for direct and accidental loss to a trailer or camper body described in the endorsement and to facilities or equipment designed to be used with the described trailer or camper body; the facilities and equipment, such as cooking, dining, or sleeping equipment, have to be in or attached to the trailer or camper body. PP 03 07 does not apply to loss to clothing or luggage, business or office equipment, or to articles that are sales samples or that are used in exhibitions. The 2018 revision of this endorsement also adds an exclusion for loss due to "fungi", wet or dry rot, or bacteria.

The form requires that the vehicle and desired coverages be listed in a schedule on the form. Up to three vehicles may be scheduled with their respective coverages.

PP 03 08 09 18 Coverage for Damage to Your Auto (Maximum Limit of Liability)

The limit of liability provision in part D of the personal auto policy is replaced through the use of this endorsement. PP 03 08 limits liability for a loss to an auto scheduled on the endorsement to the lesser of the amount shown in the schedule of PP 03 08, the actual cash value (ACV) of the stolen or damaged property, or the amount necessary to repair or replace the property with other property of like kind and quality. This endorsement keeps the language about adjusting the actual cash value loss for depreciation and physical condition and about not paying for betterment that appears on the personal auto policy, but the language referring to "the amount shown in the schedule" allows the insurer to pay an amount for a loss to a covered auto that may be even less than actual cash value.

The coverage is sometimes referred to as "stated amount"; the endorsement, however, makes it clear that this is not the case. Although the endorsement might be used for older vehicles in mint condition, it probably should not be used for antique or classic cars having considerable value. The endorsement was designed for vehicles such as custom autos, classic autos, or limited use autos. Limited use autos are those that are used primarily for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades and other functions of public interest. An antique auto that is 25 or more years old and only used in parades is one example.

PP 03 09 09 18 Single Liability Limit

This endorsement modifies paragraph A of the limit of liability provision in Part A of the personal auto policy. The limit for liability coverage is scheduled through the use of PP 03 09 on an each accident basis. This scheduled limit is the maximum limit of liability for all damages resulting from any one auto accident, and is the most the insurer will pay regardless of the number of insureds, claims made, or vehicles involved in the auto accident.

PP 03 11 09 18 Underinsured Motorists Coverage

This endorsement will pay compensatory damages that an insured is legally entitled to recover from the owner or operator of an underinsured motor vehicle because of bodily injury sustained by an insured and caused by an accident.

Vehicles are to be described in the schedule with the coverage limits and premium listed as well. The form defined "underinsured motor vehicle" as a vehicle that has a liability bond or policy at the time of the accident, but that the limits for bodily injury liability are lesser than the limits of liability provided in the endorsement. Excluded are vehicles for which the liability limit does not meet the minimum limits as required by the state's financial responsibility laws where the insured vehicle is principally garaged.

There is an exclusion for an auto being used as a public or livery conveyance. The 2018 revision clarifies that this exclusion includes any period of time when an insured is logged into a transportation network platform as a driver, whether or not a passenger is in the vehicle. The 2018 revision also adds an exclusion for bodily injury sustained while occupying or while stuck by any vehicle which is designed or can be used for flight.

PP 03 13 09 18 Excess Electronic Equipment Coverage

The 2018 personal auto policy, under coverage D damage to your auto, provides $1,000 of coverage for electronic equipment that reproduces, receives, or transmits audio, visual or data signals, and which is permanently installed in the auto in locations not used by the auto manufacturer for installation of such equipment. Additional coverage up to $5,000 may be purchased by attaching this endorsement. Equipment could include radios and stereos, CD players, navigational systems, internet access systems, personal computers, televisions, telephones, or any other device used to transmit or receive audio, visual, or data signals.

If an insured wishes to cover the tapes, records, disks or other media used with the equipment, this endorsement provides $200 worth of coverage. The insured may also use this endorsement to provide $200 worth of coverage for media used with the factory-installed equipment. A common misconception is that CDs, tapes, etc. are covered under the homeowners policy; if used with factory-installed or other permanently-installed equipment they are not covered. It is only when the tapes, CDs, etc., are used with equipment (such as a portable CD or DVD player) that is capable of being operated both by a vehicle's power source and another power source that a homeowners policy provides some coverage.

PP 03 18 09 18 Excess Custom Equipment Coverage

This endorsement replaces exclusion 10, part D of the personal auto policy. This exclusion precludes coverage for loss to any custom equipment in or upon the named insured's covered auto or any nonowned auto (as defined). The form then goes on to declare that the exclusion does not apply to custom equipment in or upon the named insured's covered auto up to the scheduled limit for excess custom equipment coverage shown for the vehicle listed in the schedule or in the declarations. The exclusion also does not apply to custom equipment in or upon any nonowned auto up to the highest limit for excess custom equipment coverage shown in the schedule or in the declarations.

The insured is required to schedule the vehicle and the particular aftermarket equipment that has been added to the vehicle. Original manufacturer custom equipment is included when comprehensive and collision are added to the vehicle. Aftermarket custom equipment includes but is not limited to: special carpeting, furniture or bars, custom grilles, custom wheels, and custom decals or other graphics.

The $1,500 limit for excess custom equipment coverage can be increased to $2,000 to $10,000 per the ISO manual. Some insurers may allow even larger limits; that information would be in those insurers underwriting guidelines. This coverage does not apply to furnishings or equipment excluded from coverage under exclusions 4, 5, 7, or 9 of part D of the personal auto policy.

PP 03 19 09 18 Additional Insured—Lessor

This endorsement declares that any liability and any required no-fault coverages afforded by the personal auto policy for the named insured's leased auto also apply to the lessor named in this endorsement as an additional insured. The endorsement will pay damages for which the lessor becomes legally responsible only if the damages arise out of acts or omissions of the named insured or any family member. A leased auto is defined as an auto shown in the endorsement that the named insured leases for a continuous period of at least six months under a written agreement that requires the named insured to provide primary insurance for the lessor.

PP 03 20 09 18 Snowmobile Endorsement

This endorsement allows an insured to schedule one or more snowmobiles onto the auto policy.

See PP 03 20 Snowmobile Endorsement Analysis for a complete analysis of the form.

PP 43 14 11 19 Snowmobile Endorsement

This endorsement is virtually the same as PP 03 20, but instead gives the option to opt for uninsured motorists coverage in the description of snowmobile section of the Schedule. It is applicable in the states CO, KY, NM, OK, RI.

PP 03 21 09 18 Limited Mexico Coverage

This endorsement gives the insured several warnings up front. First, auto accidents in Mexico are subject to the laws of Mexico, not the laws of the United States. The 2005 version of the endorsement stated that under Mexican law, auto accidents are considered a criminal offense as well as a civil matter. The revised 2018 version states that auto accidents may be considered a criminal offense as well as a civil matter.

The 2005 version also states that the coverage provided by the endorsement does not meet Mexican auto insurance requirements. The 2018 revised version changes this to it may not meet Mexican auto insurance requirements. Third, the named insured is required to purchase liability insurance through a licensed Mexican insurance company for the provisions of PP 03 21 to apply. (Insurance is usually available at the U.S.-Mexican border.)

Endorsement PP 03 21 offers liability, med pay, uninsured motorists, damage to your auto, and no-fault coverages (depending on which coverages the insured has under his or her personal auto policy) for accidents and losses that occur in Mexico within 25 miles of the U.S. border. The coverages only apply while an insured is in Mexico on a trip of 10 days or less. The insurer promises to defend the insured under liability coverage only if the original suit for damages is brought in the United States, and if the suit does not involve a Mexican citizen or resident. Additionally, the insurer will not pay for auto repairs to the named insured's covered auto if the repairs are made in Mexico unless the covered auto cannot be driven in its damaged condition.

The insurance provided by PP 03 21 is excess over any other collectible insurance.

PP 03 22 09 18 Named Non-owner Coverage

This endorsement allows an insured to provide coverage for autos the insured may use occasionally but not have normal access to. Coverage can be strictly for the named insured or family members if indicated, and coverage may be added for owned vehicles as well.

See Named Non-owner Coverage for more information.

PP 03 23 09 18 Miscellaneous Type Vehicle Endorsement

Miscellaneous vehicles are typically motor homes, golf carts, all-terrain vehicles, or similar vehicles. Coverage can be provided under the personal auto policy with the use of the Miscellaneous Type Vehicle Endorsement. A description of the vehicle and desired coverages must be scheduled on the endorsement.

PP 43 09 09 18 Miscellaneous Type Vehicle Endorsement

This endorsement is virtually the same as PP 03 23, but instead gives the option to opt for uninsured motorists coverage in the description and type of vehicle section of the Schedule. It is applicable in the states CO, KY, NM, OK, RI.

PP 03 26 09 18 Liability Coverage Exclusion Endorsement

This endorsement adds the following exclusion to Part A, Paragraph A of the personal auto policy: We do not provide Liability Coverage for any "insured" for "bodily injury" to your or any "family member." This clarifies that the insured is not liable for "bodily injury" under the liability coverage to himself or "family members". Coverage for injuries would be under the Medical Payments or PIP sections.

PP 03 28 09 18 Miscellaneous Type Vehicle Amendment (Motor Homes)

This endorsement starts off with a warning to the insured to the effect that unless otherwise indicated in the schedule or declarations, the coverage provided by the endorsement does not provide liability, medical payments, or physical damage coverage while the motor home is rented or leased to any organization or any person other than the named insured. Another warning is the PP 03 28 does not cover any physical damage loss incurred by the named insured if the motor home is fraudulently acquired by any person or organization while the motor home is in their care.

Regardless of the listed warnings of exclusions, PP 03 28 does provide motor home rental coverage to a degree for liability, med pay, and physical damage to the vehicle if the schedule for those coverages is completed for each motor home listed. The 2018 revision of this endorsement removes all references to premium since rather than charging an additional premium for motor homes rented to others, such motor homes will be rated as business use.

PP 03 34 09 18 Joint Ownership Coverage

PP 03 34, joint ownership coverage, is an endorsement meant to address the issue of coverage for individuals who are not married but who reside together and have joint ownership of a vehicle(s). The personal auto policy states that "you" and "your" refer to the named insured, and the spouse, if a resident of the same household. PP 03 34 modifies this so that "you" and "your" refer to two or more individuals, "other than spouses", residing in the same household, or non-resident relatives who jointly own a private passenger auto, or eligible pickup, or van; the emphasis here is on the joint ownership of the covered auto, regardless of the relationship that exists between the joint owners.

This endorsement adds a definition and an exclusion to the personal auto policy. The added definition concerns "non-resident relatives"; this term means two or more persons related by blood, marriage, or adoption (including a ward or foster child) who reside in separate households. An example of this would be a father and daughter who live in separate households, but who jointly own an auto. The exclusion is added to part A, the liability coverage, of the personal auto policy and states that liability coverage is not provided for the ownership, maintenance, or use of any vehicle, other than "your covered auto", by any non-resident relative or family member of a non-resident relative; this simply reinforces the fact that the insurer, based on both premium considerations and unforeseen risk exposures, does not want to insure any auto that is not included within the definition of "your covered auto". However, the endorsement allows the insured to "buy back" coverage for the excluded nonowned auto liability exposure if indicated in the endorsement Schedule or in the Declarations. In the example of the father and daughter, above, suppose the daughter was married. The daughter, by means of the PP 03 34, is covered as an insured for her use of any auto. Her husband is also an insured, but only for his use of the covered auto. When coverage for the nonowned auto exposure is indicated on the endorsement, however, the husband will also be covered for his use of any auto.

The 2018 revision of this endorsement requires the name of the joint owners to be scheduled, and adds an entry for the name and address of joint owner(s) if a non-resident relative. The form has removed the listing of coverages afforded under the policy as well as the premiums charged since these may be shown in the Declarations.

PP 03 35 09 18 Auto Loan/Lease Coverage

The auto loan/lease coverage endorsement, PP 03 35, is an endorsement meant to address a potential gap in coverage that many insureds might face. In fact, the endorsement is sometimes referred to as "gap coverage." For example, if an insured was leasing a vehicle and suffered a total loss to the auto through a collision, that insured would be liable to the leasing company for any amount equal to the difference between the amount due under the lease and the actual cash value of the auto at the time of the loss (the limit of liability under part D of the personal auto policy). PP 03 35 states that, in the event of such a total loss, the insurer will pay any unpaid amount due on the lease for the covered auto less certain specified items.

Another case where this endorsement would be used involves a total loss similar to the example above, but this time involving a new car that the insured has bought with a loan that he will pay off over time. In this situation, if the amount due under the finance agreement is greater than the ACV of the auto at the time of loss, the insured has the obligation to pay that amount. PP 03 35 offers the insured coverage for such an amount, less, as in the lease situation above, the amount paid under part D of the personal auto policy, any overdue or any deferred loan payments, or costs for extended warranties. When a lease is involved, the list of specified items also includes any overdue or any deferred lease payments at the time of loss, financial penalties imposed under the lease for excessive use or abnormal wear and tear, security deposits not refunded by a lessor, or life or health insurance purchased with the lease, and carry-over balances from previous leases.

The 2018 revision of this endorsement states that any insurance provided by the insurer with respect to the Auto Loan/Lease Coverage shall be excess over any other collectible source of recovery.

Endorsement PP 03 35 basically stands as a tool by which the insured can protect himself from a financial loss that he might not realize could face him in the event of the total loss of an auto that is leased or financed. The outstanding indebtedness of the insured is paid and the leasing or financing company is satisfied through the use of this particular endorsement.

This endorsement also includes a schedule to describe the covered auto(s) and to list the premiums that are charged for collision coverage and other than collision coverage.

PP 04 01 09 18 Single Uninsured Motorists Limit

This endorsement is similar to PP 03 09, but modifies paragraph A of the limit of liability provision in Part C of the personal auto policy. The limit of liability is shown in the Schedule or in the Declarations for Uninsured Motorists Coverage. This scheduled limit is the maximum limit of liability for all damages resulting from any one auto accident, and is the most the insurer will pay regardless of the number of insureds, claims made, or vehicles involved in the auto accident.

In order for this form to be used, the insured must have Single Limit Liability coverage or Bodily Injury Liability Coverage. When this form of insurance is purchased it must apply to all vehicles on the policy.

PP 04 02 09 18 Single Underinsured Motorists Limit

This endorsement is similar to the one above, but for underinsured motorists coverage. It modifies paragraph A of the limit of liability provision in the Underinsured Motorists Coverage endorsement. The scheduled limit is the most available for all damages resulting from any one accident. PP 03 11 Underinsured Motorists Coverage endorsement must be attached in order for this endorsement to be added to the policy. An insured must first have uninsured motorists coverage before it can be modified to be single limits.

PP 13 01 09 18 Coverage for Damage to Your Auto Exclusion Endorsement

This endorsement adds an exclusion to the physical damage coverage section (part D) of the personal auto policy. PP 13 01 states that the insurer will not pay for loss to the covered auto or any nonowned auto due to diminution in value.

The reasoning behind this endorsement is this: an insured, after being involved in an auto accident, claims that his auto is not worth what it was prior to the accident even if repaired promptly and professionally. The auto has suffered a loss in value because of the accident and that is a "loss" that is covered under the insuring agreement. Such coverage would put the insured in the position he was in prior to the loss and that is the purpose of the insurance policy. The insurer is using this endorsement to make the point that part D coverage is for "direct and accidental loss" and that means only actual physical damage to the covered auto and not a loss in value. Since some courts may agree with the insured's interpretation of the meaning of "loss", and since the personal auto policy had no exclusion that addressed the issue, PP 13 01 was written; a diminution in value loss is now specifically excluded.

The endorsement defines "diminution in value" as "the actual or perceived loss in market or resale value which results from a direct and accidental loss". Therefore, whether the insured merely believes his car has lost value or has a licensed body shop make a written statement that the covered auto has suffered a certain loss in value due to an accident, PP 13 01 excludes such a loss from coverage.

PP 13 02 09 18 Trip Interruption Coverage

This endorsement was introduced with the 2005 personal auto policy. It provides coverage for extra expenses incurred by the insured when a covered physical damage loss, or mechanical or electrical breakdown, occurs more than 100 miles away from the insured's home, and the covered vehicle is withdrawn from use at least twenty-four hours. The endorsement provides up to $600 for transportation expenses (not defined) and lodging and meals.

Endorsement PP 03 02 optional limits transportation expenses coverage adds higher limits of transportation expenses coverage to the $30 per day/$900 maximum policy limit; PP 03 03 towing and labor costs provides limits of $25, $50, $75, or $100; endorsement PP 13 02 gives an extra layer of protection by including lodging and meals expenses when a covered loss occurs away from home. For example, if the insured vehicle's engine seizes up over 100 miles from the insured's home, necessitating towing, a rental car, meals, and an overnight stay in a motel, coverage D transportation expenses coverage will not respond because it appears that no covered loss occurred (of course, it could be determined later that a rock damaged the oil pan, but in the meantime the insured is still without transportation). If the insured has PP 03 03 and PP 13 02, towing to a garage and the overnight expenses as well as rental reimbursement should be covered.

PP 13 03 09 18 Trust Endorsement

This endorsement also was introduced with the 2005 personal auto policy revision, and revised with the 2018 edition. Previously, PP 03 33 Certificate of Insurance – Trusts was issued, which stated that vehicles owned jointly by the named insured and spouse and a trust were covered under Part A – Liability coverage. However, in most instances vehicles are not jointly owned because the title has been transferred to the trust. This endorsement amends the definitions so that a "private passenger type auto, pickup or van shall be deemed to be owned by a person if title is transferred to the Trust shown in the Schedule or in the Declarations." If the trustee is other than the named insured, that individual must be shown in the endorsement schedule. Should the policy terminate, the trustee will receive notice.

The 2018 revision of this endorsement updates the Schedule to provide entry of: Trust Name and Trust Address; Named Insured Grantor and Grantor Address; and Trustee Name(s) and Trustee Address(es).

If the only named insured shown in the Declarations is the name of a Trust, then the definition of "you" and "your" is amended to refer to the named insured shown in the Declarations and the Named Insured Grantor shown in the Schedule.

PP 13 05 09 18 Extended Non-owned Coverage – Vehicles Furnished or Available for Use as Public or Livery Conveyances

This endorsement, introduced with the 2005 edition of the personal auto policy, provides coverage for a regularly furnished vehicle that is used as a livery or public conveyance. Current endorsement PP 03 06 09 18 does not delete the exclusion of coverage under the personal auto policy for a regularly furnished auto while it is being used as a livery or public conveyance; the PP 13 05 09 18 fills this gap. Primary Liability Insurance must be in effect for any non-owned vehicles furnished or available for use as public or livery conveyances.

For more information, see Extended Non-owned Coverage.

PP 13 16 09 18 Low Speed Vehicle Endorsement

This endorsement can be used to provide coverage for "low speed vehicles", which are defined as a four-wheeled motor vehicle, other than a truck, whose top speed is more than 20 miles per hour and not more than 25 miles per hour on paved surfaces. Vehicles are also required to comply with the safety standards established in NHTSA regulation 49 C.F.R. 571.500. Requirements include headlights, turn signals, tail lights, stop lights, mirrors, parking brakes, and other equipment.

Liability, medical payments, uninsured motorists, and comprehensive and collision coverages may be provided by this endorsement, where a premium and a limit of liability are shown in the Schedule. The insured must schedule a description of the vehicle and what type of vehicle it is, along with desired coverages.

PP 43 13 11 19 Low Speed Vehicle Endorsement

This endorsement is virtually the same as PP 13 16, but instead gives the option to opt for uninsured motorists coverage in the description and type of vehicle section of the Schedule. It is applicable in the states CO, KY, NM, OK, RI.

PP 23 41 01 23 Transportation Network Driver Coverage (No Passenger)

This endorsement revises the public or livery conveyance exclusions to allow coverage for the ownership or operation of a vehicle that is being used by an insured who is logged into a transportation network platform described in the endorsement's schedule or in the declarations as a driver, and while a passenger is not occupying the vehicle. The vehicle has to be described in the schedule of the endorsement or in the declarations and a specific premium charge indicates that coverage is provided for such vehicle. The distinction is important to note – coverage is only provided when an insured is logged onto the network, but does not yet have a passenger.

PP 23 45 01 23 Limited Transportation Network Driver Coverage (No Passenger)

This endorsement is similar to PP 23 41 with the exception of the following phrase that is added to the exception clause: "that driver has not accepted a request through the "transportation network platform" to transport a passenger." PP 23 41 provides coverage for the period of time from when the driver logs into a transportation network platform up until the driver has accepted a request to transport a passenger. This endorsement, PP 23 45, provides coverage for the period of time from when the driver logs into a transportation network platform up until the driver accepts a request to transport a passenger. Once the driver has accepted a request to pick up a passenger, coverage ceases.

PP 33 05 09 18 Full Safety Glass Coverage

This endorsement, introduced in 2018, provides coverage for the cost of repairing or replacing a damaged safety glass on "your covered auto" without application of a deductible. It may be used for all vehicle types including miscellaneous type vehicles. Coverage is provided only to vehicles that have Comprehensive (Other Than Collision) coverage.

PP 33 10 09 18 Replacement Cost Coverage

For policies providing both Comprehensive and Collision coverages, this endorsement may be attached to provide replacement cost to a specified auto. The auto must be a new private passenger auto, pickup or van that has not been previously titled or leased. Payment will be made if the loss occurs within 24 months after the policyholder becomes the owner of the auto, and the mileage shown in the odometer at the time of loss is less than 24,000 miles. Ineligible vehicles include: a "newly acquired auto", rented or leased auto, a non-owned auto, or miscellaneous type vehicles.

The vehicle must be declared a total loss, and the limit of liability is the amount to replace the vehicle with a new vehicle of the same make, model, equipment, and trim level, or equivalent. If such a vehicle is not available, then the endorsement pays for a vehicle that is similar in class, body type, size and equipment, and similar in price to the price you paid for the damaged auto but not to exceed an amount equal to 110% of the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of the "your covered auto" being replaced.

PP 33 37 09 18 Additional Resident of Your Household

This endorsement, introduced in 2018, can be used to provide coverage to persons who are not family members but are residents of the named insured's household. It amends the definition of family member to include a person shown in the Schedule or in the Declarations as an Additional Resident of your household.

This endorsement was created to meet the needs of a growing change in the demographics of insured's households which generally include domestic partners, significant others, live-in nannies, or roommates.

PP 33 42 09 18 Personal Property Coverage

This endorsement, introduced in 2018, provides coverage for personal property owned by the named insured and spouse if a resident of the same household, while it is anywhere in the world. Personal property does not mean buildings or other structures owned by an insured. At the time of loss, covered property losses are settled at actual cash value but not more than the amount required to repair or replace the property. Settlement is based on the least of replacement cost without depreciation, full cost of repair at the time of loss, limit of liability in the schedule or any applicable special limits listed in the endorsement. If the loss is more than $500, payment will not be more than actual cash value until the property is repaired or replaced. Limits of $5,000 and $10,000 are available, and deductibles of $100, $250, and $500 are available.

PP 43 31 01 23 Family Member Extended Non-Owned Coverage – Vehicles Furnished Or Available For Regular Use

This new endorsement was introduced in 2023. Under the personal auto policy, coverage is not provided for non-owned vehicles furnished or available for regular use of any family member. With this endorsement, liability coverage afforded under the basic personal auto policy may be extended to cover vehicles furnished or available for regular use of named family members.

PP 43 32 01 23 Transportation Network Driver Physical Damage Deductible Coverage

This endorsement, introduced in 2023, provides coverage for the difference between "your covered auto" physical damage deductible and the physical damage deductible applicable to coverage provided through the transportation network platform, if the loss occurred while the vehicle was being used while the insured is logged into a "transportation network platform," and if coverage for such loss is provided through the platform. This endorsement was developed in response to concerns expressed by agents over potential gaps between an insured's auto policy deductible and the deductible for coverage provided by the Transportation Network Company.

The premium for comprehensive and collision coverages are determined based on the applicable coverage base rate by the classification rating factors, the yearly miles driven, the deductible for the applicable coverage, and the transportation network driver physical damage deductible coverage use factor.

PP 43 33 01 23 Public Or Livery Conveyance Exclusion (Including Delivery Network Platform) Endorsement

This endorsement, introduced in 2023, reinforces the current public or livery conveyance exclusion under the ISO personal auto program to explicitly address delivery network services. The endorsement states that the exclusion includes any period of time a vehicle is being used by any insured who is logged into a transportation network or delivery network platform as a driver to provide delivery services, including courier services, whether or not the food, goods, items or products to be delivered are in the vehicle.

"Delivery network platform" is defined as an online-enabled application or digital network, used to connect customers with drivers or local vendors using drivers, for the purpose of providing prearranged delivery services, including courier services, for compensation.

PP 43 34 01 23 Delivery Network Driver Coverage

This endorsement, introduced in 2023, provides the option to purchase coverage for a delivery network driver. The endorsement includes a schedule to list the description of the insured vehicle, and the coverages and premium for any coverage that is opted for. Available coverages include liability, medical payments, uninsured motorists, collision, other than collision, and underinsured motorists.

Premium is determined based on the applicable coverage base rate by the classification rating factors, the yearly miles driven, and the delivery network driver coverage use factor.
