Twenty-three people are facing felony counts of insurance fraud for their roles in a large insurance scam ring that had been operating for at least four years. They used around 40 different vehicles to file at least 33 separate claims to stage accidents and make claims using false identities. The ring unraveled when one member staged an accident with a parked vehicle that belonged to a different member of the ring, who also filed a claim. When the stories didn't add up, investigators started looking deeper into the claims.
