We have a HO3 policy. A Separate structure fire burned a camper topper that sits inside a truck bed. The camper was not connected to any vehicle at the time of loss. The camper can not be used in any other manner than with a vehicle.
Would the "Motor Vehicle's" equipment and parts exclusion apply to this camper? Policy exclusion below:
c."Motor vehicles".
This includes a "motor vehicle's" equipment and parts. However, this Paragraph 4.c. does not apply to:
(1)Portable electronic equipment that:
(a)Reproduces, receives or transmits audio, visual or data signals; and
(b)Is designed so that it may be operated from a power source other than a "motor vehicle's" electrical system.
(2)"Motor vehicles" not required to be registered for use on public roads or property which are:
(a) Used solely to service a residence; or
(b) Designed to assist the handicapped;

Yes, since the purpose of the camper is to be used with a vehicle, and it's not something an insured would put in the backyard or basement for another use, it would be considered vehicle equipment and as such excluded. It is not electronic equipment, nor is it a vehicle in and of itself like a golf cart or motorized wheelchair.
