A bench warrant has been issued for an insured who failed to appear for an arraignment to the charge of false claims or proof. The man filed a claim stating that his vehicle had been broken into and that $19,029 worth of scuba diving gear had been stolen from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the insurer discovered that an identical claim had been filed with a different insurer five months earlier and that the man had been paid more than $16,000 for the loss. The current insurer denied the claim and reported the man to the department's Criminal Investigations Unit as required.
