The Department of Insurance issued a bulletin on July 27, 2023 stating that the Governor signed HB 146 into law. The bill increased the annual fraud assessment for each insurance company from $900 to $1050. The fee begins with the 2023 which must be paid in March of 2024. Currently 1,473 companies will be affected by the change in assessment fee. The assessment is used to support the department efforts to combat insurance fraud and support the Fraud Prevention Bureau.
