Crop Insurance Fraud – Kentucky

Amount – $718,784

A count official has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to crop insurance fraud. He collaborated with two other people to manipulate crop insurance policies by falsely reporting larger crop acreages, submitted phony expense reports from a farm-supply business, claiming sole ownership of a crop that was actually shared with another party, withholding sales information that would offset claims and filing fraudulent claims. False information was also provided to investigators. The man has waived his right to appeal any sentence that does not exceed 3 years and 6 months in prison. He has agreed to pay $458, 104 to a U.S. Department of Agriculture agency that provides crop insurance to farmers, and another $260,680 to a private insurance company.
