Auto Fraud – California

Amount – Unspecified

A couple was arrested on multiple felony counts of insurance fraud, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment after causing collisions with other vehicles in attempts to collect from insurance companies. The man had been arrested earlier on similar charges. The Sheriff's department became aware of a YouTube channel showing dashcam videos of collisions and road rage incidents; approximately 162 videos were on the channel showing collisions, road rage and other incidents showing the couple and a child were in the vehicle during the incidents.

The husband has been charged with six felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, eleven felony counts of insurance fraud, and five felony counts of child endangerment. The wife has been charged with two counts of felony child endangerment and one count of felony insurance fraud. They are each being held on $500,000 bail.

Update: The husband has been sentenced to three years in state prison. His driver's license was immediately revoked because of the charge for assault with a deadly weapon. The wife was sentenced to 90 days in weekend county jail/work release, three years supervised probation, and attendance at a 52-week child abuse prevention program. A restitution hearing is scheduled for July 7.
