Vehicle fraud – California

Amount – $25,062

A man has been arrested on four counts of felony insurance fraud and assault with a deadly weapon for intentionally causing an accident in order to receive an insurance payout. The man performed a classic swoop and squat scheme by crossing over the freeway entrance at high speed and getting behind the victim, then speeding past other cars in order to get in front of the victim and intentionally stopping in the victim's lane of traffic to cause an accident. The victim's vehicle was totaled and the victim suffered soft tissue damage injuries. The victim's vehicle's dash cams caught the actions of the offending driver. Bail has been set for the offending driver at $30,000.
