Vehicle Fraud – North Carolina

Amount – $10,635

A mother and son have been accused of submitting nineteen fraudulent insurance claims to their carrier between October 2019 and January 2021. They claimed that deer or other animals struck their vehicles on nineteen different occasions. The carrier suspected fraud and reported it to the North Carolina Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division. The two have been charged with insurance fraud and the mother has also been charged with obtaining property by false pretenses. The son faces additional charges of aiding and abetting, and was arrested on August 19.
