Staged Auto Accidents – California

Three men have been charged with multiple felony counts for staging multiple auto accidents on local freeways in order to collect money from insurance settlements. Some of the staged accidents caused major injuries among innocent parties. One man was charged with eleven counts of assault with a deadly weapon and ten counts of insurance fraud, another was charged with ten counts of assault with a deadly weapon and nine counts of insurance fraud and the third was charged with eight counts of assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of insurance fraud.
Between January and September 2020, the three men staged fifteen accidents on Los Angeles freeways involving twenty-one victims and inflicting some serious medical injuries. The California Department of Insurance is investigating the case.
