Two different pairs of police officers have been indicted for faking the theft of their vehicles and filing false insurance claims. The first pair was indicted for having a vehicle vandalized and hidden so that the one officer could file a theft claim with his insurance carrier. They filed a false report with their own department reporting the vehicle as stolen.
The second pair hid the vehicle in a garage before filing a false police report saying the vehicle had been stolen and then filing a false insurance claim.
