A man had collected funds for damage from hitting two deer with his vehicle in 2018. In 2020, he claimed to have hit five deer with the same vehicle, damaging the car in the same areas as the first accident. An investigation showed that the man never had the vehicle repaired from the first accident, and had falsified invoices in order to fool the insurance company into paying for damages again. The insurer was not fooled, and the man is now charged with felony insurance fraud and attempted theft. He is free on an unsecured $10,000 bond with a hearing scheduled for May 26.
