Because of flooding during March, the Insurance Commissioner has issued a bulletin that authorizes temporary assistance from nonresident unlicensed adjusters working with Write Your Own companies and NFIP Direct due to the severe flooding experienced in the state. Nonresident adjusters can work in the state without a Hawaii license for up to 30 days from the registration date as long as they provide the commissioner with:
A certified copy of the adjuster's current license from a state with substantially similar licensing requirements
A letter on letterhead from the company using the adjuster that provides the adjuster's name, Hawaii mailing and business addresses and phone numbers, and the adjuster's permanent home and business addresses and phone numbers. The letter must also state that the adjuster has the requisite experience to adjust flood claims in the state, maintains a current registration to adjust claims for NFIP, and is authorized to adjust NFIP claims.
Adjusters can avoid the 10-day quarantine if they obtain a COVID-19 test from Trusted Testing and Travel Partners no later than 72 hours prior to departure and the test result is negative.
